After a short spell as a ranger in Redwood National Park and five years as an educator for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science's Outreach Division, naturalist Desere expanded her own education by moving to an off-grid heritage farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. There for sixteen years, she led and directed camps and wilderness experiences for assorted learners from elementary school field trips to corporate work retreats.
In 2022 she fulfilled her dream of traveling full time in a solar powered camper van by launching "Traveling Naturalist" an interactive mobile museum outreach program. Sharing science and nature skills programs to learners in the larger communities far and wide, she has brought her exciting programs across the eastern seaboard and beyond.
Learning is easier when done experientially. The vast array of biological specimens Desere brings in her interactive camper van along with top-notch lessons, makes for a unique and memorable experience for learners of all ages.
